What do you think emotions are? How would you explain emotions if someone you know asked you? Everybody has experienced emotions. Most would probly answer by saying emotions are feelings we feel in different situations of everyday life. Not to say they that's wrong, however there is much more to emotion then just feelings. Communication shapes our feelings and feelings shape our communication. I have done some research that will break different down different aspects of emotions. The next few pages will take a closer look at analyzing and expressing emotions. The following pages will clarify what emotions are and how to recognize them, influences on emotional expression like personality type, culture, and gender role and how each effect emotional expression. Lastly I’ve posted some guidelines for expressing emotions; here you’ll find out how to recognize your emotions along with the importance of being able to do so. You’ll also learn the difference between feeling, talking, and acting on your emotions, this area will help you to decide the proper time to express your emotions in the proper way. This e-folio page will help you to better your understanding of emotions, so that you can apply them to your communication, to further your knowledge and communication skills. It will explore what causes feelings, and how to enhance feelings that make communication more rewarding and decrease feelings that interfere with effective relationships. Most importantly, next time someone asks you to explain emotions you’ll know there are several elements that all incorporate to the true meaning of emotions.
